Bio



I'm Christopher P. McDill. A visual and recording artist. I was born in the coastal deep south, spent a significant portion of my childhood in Europe, and generally travelled a lot during the early part of my life. I attended college for 8 years, starting as an art student. I changed my academic focus halfway through, and ended up with a degree in Religion/Anthropology. I lived in New York City through the 90s, and in 2003 I moved to Massachusetts, where I've settled in a cozy beach cottage on Cape Cod Bay with my spiritual and artistic collaborator, Aria Nadii.



My creative work explores different methods of appropriation and recontextualization, like mixed media, assemblage, cut-up and aleatory processes. Since 2002 I've been applying some of those same concepts to sound art (I have recorded over 40 albums, at last count). I have a hand in approximately six recording projects (not including collaborations). They are Saluki Regicide, Tree Helicopter, Rolling Calf Sinfonette, Akashic Crow's Nest, Djinnestan and Rowboat Magicians. There is also an ambient concept album series called Rain, which is comprised of CD-length mood pieces by various of my recording projects. I have released all but a few of my recordings on Webbed Hand Records, a "netlabel" which is fast gaining respect and prominence within the free music scene for its warm and spiritual approach to experimental music.
